"Global Forecast Unavailable"

No matter what location I try, whether my own, or any of their suggested spots, I get a message saying, "Global Forecast Unavailable For ..." Do I have to pay $2.99 for the United States Astronomy Weather in-app purchase before it will do anything? Id like to try this app, but as is, its no good.

unuseable all it wants is to sell you a weather upgrade!

When I bought this app, it worked, now it wont return any weather forecasts. Seems like a tease and sell app to me. I deleted it.

Hasnt worked since August 2014

This was a fairly helpful app. For a while. Then it stopped working. It either just crashes or displays an error message saying there is no weather data for my area (Los Angeles). Ive tied to reinstall, be patient, even submitted a bug report. But no fix has come nearly 5 months later. Clearly the author is too busy with something else to fix this. Delete!

Was Good Now Bloated Shakedown

The version 2 changes killed an elegant app. Sluggish and limited unless more in-app money is spent.

Not working with iPhone 6 and iOS 8 and latest update

I paid the price to get the new features but even though you can add site locations they are not selectable. Deleted App and reinstalled several times but it still does not work.

Be careful of install issues

The upgrade on my iPad had locked me into the gps location only but the iPhone went well so Ill retract my low rating. A reinstall on the iPad resolved the problem, the app in now working as intended. Since Ive already memorized the zip codes of observing locations I wont be paying for the locations update.

Big help

This Is one of the most helpful astronomy programs that has been made for the astronomer. I know what the weather will be at the observatory and any of my other sites. I know what to wear my coat or give up and go home for the night. It takes the guesswork out of planing a observing run.

Best Astronomy app

I love this app! The forecasts are accurate and it notifies me during the day if there is a possible clear sky for the night. And till now, it has been spot on! I heavily use this app for planning my astronomy and astrophotography sessions and absolutely love it! The upgrades are totally worth it too! A Must buy IMO!

Clunky

Error messages about missing global forecasts and a frequent inability to determine my location when I, at my own house are annoying.

Great App for planning observing time

I really like using this app to plan observing sessions for the next few days.

To costly

The cost of all the in app purchases that make it useful is to much. I can accomplish the same thing with a link to my local Clear Sky Chart.

Frequently Worthless

Great concept, poor execution. It often, actually more often than not, fails to load a forecast. It throws up an error message stating no internet connection found. It must be a catch all error pop up because my devices certainly have internet connectivity at the time the message appears. I know, because when it fails I have to use Safari to look up the forecast on line. Having said, the 25% of time that it does work, its forecast is sketchy, at best.

Not. Very good

Have installed all of the applicable add ons and still find the product frustrating. Mainly due to the lack of help or documentation. My inability to find a way of setting up a personal site location was really a surprise. The web site seems to be only for selling products. The main support system seems to be tied to blogs and the social media sites. When I tried to find info on my present location I received a clear skies chart not the scope nights window. This was on the scope nights web site. The need for add ons to get the program to work was a real surprise. The add ons needed to use the App will be at least $4 more.

Total waste

When I installed app, it indicated good conditions and it was raining! Rarely accurate. Dont recommend.

Waste of money

You can get the same information elsewhere for free. And the app is not as user friendly as it should be for what I paid.

Top rate astronomy weather app!

I have found this app to be just what I need to anticipate weather breakthroughs here in the rainy Pacific Northwest. There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out the meaning of the symbology, but once figured out, the app displays great “at a glance” usability. Once I had learned my way around, I downloaded all the in-app purchases. I couldn’t be more pleased. By mid afternoon the app had alerted me to clearing skies in three of my favored location settings. What a treat! Kudos to the developer!

Call it nickel and dime

Works ok till you try to get info that should already be included. Then the pan hand rears its ugly presence. Dude, just bundle it all from the get-go. I would have paid a little more up front, but not now...

Good but add ons costly

Although it usually works very well, I find the fact that you cannot add more than two observing sites irritating. You can add as many sites as you want, free, on the weather app that comes with the iPod, but you have to shell out 5 bucks for Scope Nights. In addition, many of the features such as the dark sky map are only available with these costly add ons. Also, you cannot easily (or perhaps at all) delete observing locations and add another in its place. You can only adjust basic settings like the time period you are forecasting for if you pay $4. I wouldnt recommend scope nights unless you dont mind wasting money for a paltry bit of added convenience.

Not reliable when it worked, now it doesnt work at all.

Seldom was ever correct with its forecasts. More of a gimmick than anything. Too bad, it really has a polished look. It may have had potential in its early development, but then it turned into a money pit, as the developer charged for simple features that shouldve been standard from the beginning. Now, it doesnt even work....period. This app should be removed from the store, the developer has clearly given up on the upkeep of this app. Dont waste your money, people!

Ok. Could be better

This is ok for amateur astronomers. I was looking for additional data such as visibility, clarity, light pollution, etc. apparently this app does not offer this.
